The Wyoming Wind Energy Center was completed in December 2003. The project is located in southwestern Wyoming approximately 10 miles from the town of Evanston. The project consists of 80 Vestas V-80 1.8 MW wind turbines and is connected to the transmission lines of PacifiCorp. Electricity generated by the wind turbines is being sold to PPM Energy, Inc. Wind turbines are located on land owned by local ranchers and the State of Wyoming. Roads and power lines are also located on federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
