Press Release: OAKLAND (November 19, 2003) - Today in Philadelphia, at PennFuture's fourth annual Green Power: Turn It On! Awards Luncheon, Orion Energy LLC received the PennFuture Green Team Award. The Award was presented in recognition of Orion's role in developing the Waymart Wind Energy Center, the largest wind farm in Pennsylvania. Also honored with the Green Team Award were FPL Energy, the builder, owner, and operator of the wind farm; Exelon Generation Company, the purchaser of the electricity produced by the facility; and Community Energy, Inc., which markets the output of the wind farm. Reid Buckley, Vice President of Orion Energy LLC, said, "PennFuture is Pennsylvania's leading environmental organization, and we are extremely proud that they have honored us, along with FPL Energy, Exelon Generation Company, and Community Energy, with the Green Team Award. In addition, Orion is grateful to The Reinvestment Fund's Sustainable Development Fund for their support throughout the development of the project." The 64.5 Waymart Wind Energy Center was completed in 2003 and is located in northeastern Pennsylvania, in Wayne County. The project consists of 43 GE Wind Energy 1.5 MW wind turbines and is connected to the transmission lines of PPL Electric Utilities.
